It was maybe a year ago that I was searching the internet for “cool” places in Kansas when I stumbled upon this gem. Say what? This place?? In Kansas?? YES, my jaw DROPPED when I discovered there was a DESERT-VIBED LOCATION IN KANSAS! Pardon me while I go wipe up my drool again. My heart was so excited to find this place because I’m a desert loving, cacti gal that is always yearning to shoot in that kind of location. I knew getting to this spot would require a little road trip and take some planning, but once I knew we would be traveling to Colorado for a wedding in June, I quickly found a couple that would be up for the adventure and then figured out the other details. Sarah & Luke are married with two adorable kiddos, and traveling for this shoot was the perfect way for them to get some alone time together. They planned to spend the night at the first hotel they found or camp near the location in their car — so fun and spontaneous!
I’m one who is really inspired by my surroundings, mood, lighting…people being themselves. I explode with excitement when I can have all of those things in a photo shoot! I LOVE love love it when couple’s don’t hold back and are affectionate in front of the camera as they are in real life, and Sarah & Luke did exactly that. They effortlessly displayed their love to one another, and I absolutely adored and encouraged it.
Sarah & Luke’s shoot is one of my favorites of all time and I think you’ll quickly see why. :) I was able to do a small “love story” video for them, which is at the bottom of this post!
Please share some love if you want to shoot at a location like this!
Happy 4th of July!
